NO fewer than 15 people have voluntarily surrendered their guns to the Adamawa Police Command in compliance with the Inspector General of Police directive on illegal firearms.

The Police Command made this known in a statement signed by the command Public Relations Officer, SP Othman Abubakar in Yola on Tuesday.

Abubakar said that 15 pump action guns and 123 cartridges were retuned to the police voluntarily.

“The Adamawa State Command has in its efforts recovered 15 pump action guns and 123 cartridges from different individuals within the state, who voluntarily surrendered the arms to the command.

“The command is equally using this opportunity to call on those that are yet to surrender their arms to do so, as the command will embark on aggressive mopping and seizure of such arms after the expiration of the time given,” he said.

The police spokesperson warned that anyone found with such arms would be arrested and prosecuted.

Abubakar also directed operators of tri-cycle known as Keke-Napep in the state on the use of inner light while operating at night.

He warned that anyone found operating at night without the inner light would face the wrath of law.
