DIRECTOR of National Orientation Agency (NOA) in Kano State, Mr Lawan Haruna-Makarfi, has urged youths to imbibe the spirit of integrity in order to mitigate social vices.

Haruna-Makarfi gave the advice at an award presentation to winners of the second edition of Integrity Club National Competition, held in Kano on Wednesday.

The director, who was represented by Deputy Director, Special Services, Alhaji Salisu Kutama, said that the integrity club was established to inculcate good moral values in secondary school students in the country.

He said that Air Force Comprehensive Secondary School, Kano emerged as the overall winner, with Government Girls Technical College, Kano and Federal Government College, Kano coming second and third.

“We are here to present a token to the schools that took first, second and third positions in the competition.

“Youths are the leaders of tomorrow as well as good ambassadors of Nigeria in mitigating corruption and other social vices,” Haruna-Makarfi said.

Speaking at the occasion, the Commandant, Nigerian Air Force Comprehensive Secondary School, Kano, Wing Commander Mustapha Garba, commended NOA for organising the competition.

Garba, who was represented by Squadron Leader S.S. Habu, enjoined the agency to extend the club to primary schools.

According to him, integrity is the core value of the Nigerian Air Force, adding that the establishment of the club was apt due to the problems bedeviling the country.

“Our core value and tradition is integrity first before service and excellence,” Garba said. (NAN)
