VAL Obienyem, media aide to Peter Obi, presidential candidate of the Labour Party and former governor of Anambra State is worried about the increasing use of tinted window at a time insecurity is bedeviling the country.
Obienyem, in a statement entitled: “Why Allow the Use of Tinted Windows in Vehicles?” sent to Realnews on Thursday, August 31, said that
“In times like these, it’s perplexing to observe that the authorities continue to tolerate the use of tinted windows by individuals in their cars.”
According to him, “Given the existing insecurity concerns, shouldn’t there be a strong justification for mandating the removal of tinted windows from all vehicles? It’s hard not to notice that a significant majority of vehicles in Anambra now sport tinted windows. Were I in Gov. Soludo’s position, I would convene a meeting with law enforcement officials and promptly declare a prohibition on the use of tinted windows.
“Regrettably, it appears that our society tends to associate everything with social status. It’s disconcerting that the use of tinted windows has now become a symbol of prestige.”
“Is it not astonishing that a considerable number of people perceive tinted windows as a representation of their social standing?”, he queried.
