ALHAJI lbrahim Danmaigoro, the Special Assistant to Gov. AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara on Religious Matters, has urged politicians to eschew bitterness and acrimony for the progress of the country.
Danmaigoro also appealed to Nigerians to shun religious extremism and embrace peace for the successful conduct of the 2023 general elections.
He made the call in llorin on Thursday during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on the celebration of 2022 International Day for Peace.
According to the aide, the upcoming general election will record success than previous exercises when Nigerians and politicians allow peace to reign supreme.
He noted that no meaningful development could be attained in an atmosphere of chaos, religious bigotry, hatred and other negative tendencies which are inimical to the growth and development of the nation.
“Every Nigerian must realise that the nation belongs to us, we must do everything within our capacity to ensure that there is peace in this country because there is no place like home,” he said.
Besides, Danmaigoro enjoined Nigerian youths to embark on activities that would fast track the development of the country as a way of preparing for future leadership challenges.
“As we approach 2023 general elections, we must make sure that the election must be peaceful to actualise one Nigeria,” the governors aide said.
He also called on the Federal and State Governments not to consider religion in the provision of essential needs of the people.
NAN reports the United Nations set aside every Sept. 21 for the celebration of the international Day of Peace.
The day was established in 1981 by the United Nations to ensure that peace exists throughout the world. (NAN)
