Isese Day: Traditionalists urge members to practise faith with fear of God

OBA Olawumi Badiru, the Akire of Ifeland, the former  President for Traditionalists across the state, has urged members to practise their faith with the fear of God.

Badiru told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday, in Ile-Ife that the religion was complex, involving Olosun, Oloya, Onisango, Yemoja, Olobatala, Alakire, Oluorogbo and Oodua.

According to him, the traditional religion is the first inherited by their fore-fathers, while Christianity and Islam  were borrowed from Jew and Saudi Arabia.

The former President stated further that there was no any other religion, apart from tradition as far as Yoruba nation was concerned.

He lamented on the lackadaisical attitude of the government for not promoting the traditional religion at the expense of other religions.

Badiru commended Gov Rauf Aregbesola who inaugurated the declaration of holiday for Isese Day in Osun, who used to give huge amount of money for the celebration of the day.

The Akire of Ile-Ife said that the efforts of the present administration under the leadership of Gov Adegboyega Oyetola could not be over-emphasised on the religion.

“Almost 80 per cent are traditionalists, for both Christians and Muslims know how to use leave and roots more than traditionalist themselves.

He said hose sitting at home as professionals were 20 per cent and debunked the claims that traditionalists were the supporters of evil doers.

“Hardly could you hear the names of traditionalists among evil perpetrators, but Christians and Muslims are those that involve much on that,” he said.

The former Traditional President for Traditionalist appealed to members to ensure they were faithful and honest, with the fear of God in their practices.

According to him, Christians and Muslims are the ones going to traditionalists to seek for spiritual assistance and warned members to desist from such atrocities.

“Anyone found guilty among the traditionalists would be punished by the association.

He admonished all and sundry to wait for their times rather than running Helter skelter to make life.

He urged government to be sincere to all religions by not favouring traditional ones  to others.

He appealed to Yorubas to look back and see the traditional religion as first and their heritage, saying it was their fore-father and mothers heritage, which must be embraced.(NAN)
