THE Kukah Centre in Kaduna says it has concluded arrangements to partner sister organisations to promulgate end to racism ahead of the 2022 International World Day of Peace (IWDP).

The Programme Officer of Kukah Centre, Mr Methodius Karfe, said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday  in Kaduna.

He said the center, in partnership with the Global Peace Foundation of Nigeria and The King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz International Centre (KAICIID) globally known as International Dialogue Centre were set to hold a one-day round table discussion in commemoration of the day.

Karfe said that the programme was targeted at promulgating the end to racism and promoting peaceful coexistence among communities in Kaduna State.

The International Day of Peace established in 1981 by unanimous United Nations resolution 36/37, is observed yearly around the world on Sept. 21.

The UN General Assembly commemorates the day to strengthen the ideals of peace within and among all nations and people.

The event according to the organisers, will bring religious leaders, Civil Society Organisations and people across the board together in Kaduna.

“Achieving true peace entails much more than laying down arms.

“It requires the building of societies where all members flourish and have a sense of inclusivity.

“It involves creating a world in which people are treated fairly regardless of race, creed, gender, religious and political affiliations,” Karfe said.

According to him, a lead paper will be presented by Fr. Atta Bakindo on the topic: “Justice as a Precondition for Peace in the Society”.

He added that stakeholders such as the media, security agencies, and government representatives are expected at the round table discussion. (NAN)
