FORMER President, Nigeria Union of Journalists(NUJ), Chief George Izobo, has commiserated with the family of late Malam Wada Maida, ex-Managing Director of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

Izobo, who also retired from NAN as an Editor, described Maida’s death as shocking, in a telephone conversation with a NAN Correspondent in Benin on Tuesday.

“I just read about the death of NAN board Chairman, Maida. This is sad and shocking to me,” he said.

The former NUJ national president prayed God to rest the soul of late Maida and console his immediate family and NAN for the loss.

Maida, who was the Chairman of the Board of Directors of NAN, died on Monday in Abuja, at the age of 70.

The former Editor-in-Chief and later Managing Director of NAN, was one of the pioneer editors of the agency.

He served as the agency’s Regional Editor in Kaduna, Political Editor and London Correspondent, among others. (NAN)
