TWO men, John Opene, 43, and Mike Okon, 30, were on Wednesday brought before an Igbosere Magistrates’ Court, Lagos State, over alleged illegal occupation of premises.

The defendants, who reside at Eti-Osa, Lagos State, are standing trial on a two-count charge of conspiracy and trespass, but they pleaded not guilty.

The Prosecutor, Insp. Francis Igbinosa, told the court that the duo and others still at large committed the  offences sometime in 2018 at Iroko Awe Village, Eti-Osa.

He said that the defendants forcibly entered into the property of one Mr Victor Ogbolu and occupied it without his consent.

Igbinosa said that the offences contravened Sections 52, 168 (d) and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The Magistrate, Mrs F. F. George, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N50, 000 each with one surety each in like sum.

She ordered that the sureties must be gainfully employed and show evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State Government.

The case was adjourned until April 2 for mention.
