A Kaduna Chief Magistrates’ Court, on Tuesday, granted a 41-year-old businessman, Yohanna Adamu, who is standing trial for alleged breach of trust N200,000 bail.

The magistrate, Mr Ibrahim Emmanuel, who granted the defendant bail, ordered him to provide two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case until Aug. 31 for hearing.

However, the defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Insp Leo Chidi, had told the court that the defendant, who resides at Ungwan Romi Kaduna, was arraigned in court on a two-count charge of alleged breach of trust and cheating.

Chidi said the offence was committed sometime in Feburary at Sarki Yari Road Ungwan Romi, in Kaduna State.

He alleged that the complainant, one Abdulganiyu Abdulkadir of No 2, Dutse Close, Motor Ventures Kaduna, had reported the case at Taiwo Road Police Station.

Chidi told the court that sometime in February, the complainant supplied seven units of Peugeot brand vehicles to the defendant, all worth N7,750,000.

He alleged that while the defendant made initial deposit payment of N2.4 million, he reneged on his promise to pay the balance amount on or before May 18, 2019.

The prosecutor noted that the offence contravened Section 296 and 306 of the Kaduna State Penal Code, 2017.
