TWO bus conductors, Ojo Mudasiru and Ibrahim Yusuf, were on Wednesday brought before a Yaba Magistrates’ Court in Lagos over alleged possession of a missing person’s phone.

Mudasiru, 27, and Yusuf, 28, are facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.

They, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

According to the Prosecutor, Sgt. Modupe Olaluwoye, the defendants committed the offences on Feb. 3, at 3a.m. on Morocco Road in Shomolu area of Lagos.

Olaluwoye said the defendants stole an Infinix phone valued at N50,000 from one Victor Godwin, who had been missing for two weeks.

She said that  Godwin was reported missing by his wife two weeks ago and the police found his car parked on Morocco Road without his phone.

“My Lord, the police were able to trace the signal of the phone to the defendants; we are still carrying out an investigation to find out exactly what happened to Godwin,” she said.

The alleged offences contravened Sections 287 and 412 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 (Revised).

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Section 287 attracts three years jail term for stealing.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Oluwatoyin Oghere, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N100, 000 each with two sureties in like sum.

Oghere said that the sureties should be gainfully employed and show evidence of three years’ tax payment to the Lagos State Government. The case was adjourned until May 8 for trial. (NAN)
