A businessman, Chika Chinyere, was on Tuesday brought before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court for allegedly conducting himself in a manner likely to cause breach of peace.

Chinyere, 38, was charged for allegedly giving false allegation on one Wisdom Oriaku.

The accused resides at No. 1 Azeez Ajibode St., Ijegun, near Lagos.

The Prosecutor, Sgt. Michael Unah, told the court that the accused committed the offence between last May and October at Block 90, Flat 507, Jakande Estate, Isolo in Lagos.

Unah said that the accused violently threatened and made false allegation against the complainant.

He said that the accused hired some unknown men to trail the complainant, following a disagreement.

Unah said that the offence contravened Section 168 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the section stipulates six months imprisonment for offenders.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr. A. A. Fashola, granted the accused bail in the sum of N50, 000 with one surety in like sum.

Fashola said the surety should be gainfully employed with an evidence of two years tax payment to the Lagos State Government and should also have his address verified by the court.

He adjourned the case until Nov. 13 for mention.
