A commercial motorcyclist, Seyi Adedoyin, is to be kept behind bars for 26 days pending advice from the
Lagos State Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court has ruled.

The 23-year-old had allegedly robbed three pedestrians of N128, 000 and other valuables at gunpoint while going to work early in the
morning at Igando, a Lagos suburb, the prosecution said.

Adedoyin, a resident of No. 17 Akesan St., Akesan Bus Stop, Igando, is facing a four-count charge bordering on conspiracy and robbery.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr A. A. Fashola, who gave the ruling, said the accused should be remanded in Kirikiri Prison and directed
that the case file should be sent to the DPP for advice.

Earlier, the Police Prosecutor, Sgt. Michael Unah, told the court that the accused committed the offences with others still at large on
March 25 about 6.25 a. m. at Igando.

The accused, armed with a gun and a knife, robbed the complainants — Esther Akpan, Queen Orumade and Fatimah Anigbajumo — of
N128, 000,  two handbags containing a phone, a Holy Bible, an Infinix phone, UBA cheque book , a passport and a pair of shoes,
according to Unah.

“The accused attacked the complainants on the road, snatched their bags and robbed them of N128, 000 and other valuables.

“The complainants raised alarm and with the help of some passersby they were able to arrest accused while the others ran
away,” he said.

The offences contravened Sections 297 (2) and 299 (1) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Section 297 (2)  prescribes 21 years jail term for offenders.

The case has been adjourned until July 17 for mention.
