Court remands 28-year-old man over alleged damage of church billboard

AN Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court on Thursday ordered the remand of one Nwakamma Nnaemeka, accused of damaging church billboard worth N3.5million.

Chief Magistrate M.I Dan-Oni, ordered that Nnaemeka, 28, be remanded in prison, while the case file should be sent to the Office of State Director for Public Prosecutions (DPP) for advice.

The case was adjourned until July 30 for mention.

The accused, who resides at No 4, Hope St., Iju Ishaga, Lagos, is being tried for willful damage

Earlier, the prosecutor, Insp. Victor Eruada, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on June 1, at Ojodu, Berger, Lagos.

Eruada said that the accused willfully damaged an electronic billboard worth N3.5 million and stole some parts.

He said that the damaged billboard belongs to the Liberation City Church.

Eruada alleged that Nnaemeka was arrested while packing scraps and other parts of the billboard after it was destroyed.

The offence contravened Section 351 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015. (NAN)
