Driver in court over alleged breach of trust

A 45-year-old driver Labaran Abdullahi, was on Wednesday arraigned in a Kaduna Chief Magistrates’ Court over alleged breach of trust and cheating.

Abdullahi who resides at No. 25, Nasarawa Road, Ungwan Shanu, Kaduna, was charged with two counts of criminal breach of trust and cheating.

The prosecutor, Insp. Sunday Baba, told the court that one Isah Nibras of Shagan Close, Badarawa, Kaduna, reported the matter at Badarawa Police Station, on Aug. 22.

According to Baba, sometimes in April, Nibras gave the defendant a focus Ford Car Model 2015, valued at N384, 000 to sell for him.

Baba alleged that after the defendant sold the said car, he converted the money to his personal use and all efforts to get the money back proved abortive.

The prosecutor added that the defendant later absconded without giving the complainant his money until July 30, when he was sighted and apprehended.

He noted that the offence contravened sections 297 and 305 of the Kaduna State Penal Code Law 2017.

Abdullahi, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The Magistrate, Mrs Hajara Dauda, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100, 000 with one surety in like sum.

Dauda ordered that the surety, who must be resident within the court’s jurisdiction, must also submit two passport photographs.

She then adjourned the case to Sept 9, for further hearing. (NAN)
