An Ado-Ekiti Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday remanded a 26-year-old man, Gbenga Olowoyo, in prison over alleged cultism.
The accused, whose address is unknown, is standing trial on a charge of cultism.
The prosecutor, Sgt. Olubu Apata, told the court that the accused committed the offence at Oke-Imesi Ekiti.
Apata alleged that Olowoyo confessed that he was a member of Eiye confraternity, a secret cult.
He said the offence contravened Section 4 (i) of Secret Cult Abolition Law, 2017.
Apata said the case file had been duplicated and forwarded to the office of the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) for legal advice.
The Magistrate, Mrs Kehinde Awosika, who did not take the plea of the accused, ordered that he should be remanded in prison pending receipt of legal advice.
Awosika adjourned the case till Oct. 22 for mention. (NAN)
