Man, 35, docked for forgery of employer’s signature

A 34-year-old man, Ekundayo Bello, on Wednesday appeared in an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly forging the signature of his employer.

Bello was arraigned on a two-count charge of forgery and stealing.

He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

But the Prosecutor, Police Insp. Oladele Adebayo told the court that the accused committed the offences between
Jan. 1 to Aug. 3, 2018 at Alaafia Distribution Nigeria Ltd at No. 21 Ibiyinka Salvador St., Lekki, Lagos.

He alleged that the accused forged the signature of Mrs Bilkisu Adekunle, his employer, on the pretext of
remitting some funds into the company’s account.

According to him, the accused stole N5.1 million from the company during the period.

The offences contravened Sections 287 and 363 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

In his ruling, the Chief Magistrate, Mr O.O. Olatunji, granted the accused bail in the sum of N1 million
with two sureties in like sum.

He adjourned the case until Feb. 7 for mention.
