The police have arraigned one Nuhu Isiyaka at a Grade I Area Court in Kubwa, Abuja, over alleged criminal trespass and an attempt to steal at a Point of Sale (POS) machine shop.

Isiyaka, whose address was not provided, is being tried for an attempt to steal.

The prosecutor, John Okpa, told the court that the complainant, Mona Mike, reported the matter at Kubwa Police Station on May 12.

Okpa said the defendant acted in a dubious manner and criminally entered the complainant’s Point of Sale (POS) machine shop located at Kubwa, Abuja on the said date.

He said the defendant criminally trespassed with intent to steal and when questioned he allegedly attempted to escape, he was chased and arrested.

The prosecutor said the offence contravened Sections 345 and 95 of the Penal Code.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge preferred against him.

The defence counsel, Taiye Okoya, urged the court to grant his client bail and assured that his client would provide a reasonable surety.

The judge, Mr Muhammad Adamu, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N200, 000, with one surety, who must reside within the court’s jurisdiction. He adjourned the case until July 2 for hearing. (NAN)
