A 26-year-old man, Bamidele Oluwatayo, was on Thursday brought before an Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun State for allegedly stealing aluminium coil valued at N30,000 belonging to his employer.

Oluwatayo, who lives at House No. 16, Oretola St., Iyana-Iyesi, Ota, is facing a charge of stealing.

The prosecutor, Cpl. Titi Olatoye, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on March 6, at about 5.20 pm at Qualitec Company, Ewupe road, Ota.

Olatoye said that the defendant, being a staff, was caught in the act of stealing the aluminum coil by the company’s security officer.

She said that the offence contravened Section 390(9) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun State, 2006. The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Magistrate, Mrs. O.O. Obaleye, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N10,000 with one surety in like sum.

Obaleye ordered that the surety must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and should be gainfully employed with an evidence of tax payment to the Ogun state government. She adjourned the case until March 30, for the continuation of trial. (NAN)
