KANO Electricity Distribution Company is losing about N180 million yearly to persistent attacks on its facilities by vandals within Kano metropolis. Mohammed Khandi, KEDCO, public relations officer, made the disclosure, while conducting newsmen around some areas where KEDCO facilities, particularly transformers were vandalised in Hotoro, Sharada and Sabon Gari areas of the metropolis.

The PRO expressed worry that whenever the vandals strike and if there was an eventual supply of electricity, the transformer would promptly explode causing blackout. Confirming that some of the vandals were nabbed, while perpetrating the act in the Sabon Gari area of the metropolis, Khandi said that the suspects would be prosecuted immediately they complete investigation.

He, however, urged members of the public to protect KEDCO facilities as their personal property by monitoring them closely.
