THE Kano Roads and Traffic Agency (KAROTA), says it has identified and rewarded 200 workers who had demonstrated uncommon commitment and dedication to duty.
Its Managing Director, Malam Baffa Dan’agundi, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Kano that some got a special promotion while others got various amounts as financial gifts.
He explained that the gesture was to appreciate their commitment and motivate others to perform better.
He commended the agency’s workers for their commitment and urged them to redouble their efforts toward greater efficiency.
The KAROTA boss regretted that 35 workers were maltreated by either drivers or hoodlums, and left with various degrees of injuries or fractures.
“Some of the affected staff cannot go out and work due to their current conditions, but we have not sacked them. They have been deployed to the office,” he said.
He said that Gov. Abdullahi Ganduje had approved N250 million for the agency to improve service delivery and ensure smooth traffic in Kano.
“The approval of the fund will enable us provide our officers with facilities needed to excel. We intend to use part of the money to purchase vehicles and staff uniforms. We shall also pay allowances and buy other equipment to ease our work.”
Dan’agundi appealed to residents to support KAROTA officials to facilitate the execution of the mandate of easing traffic flow in the populated northern state.
He urged members of the public to report to the agency, any staff found involved in unethical behaviour. (NAN)
