KOGI Government on Saturday reiterated its unwavering commitment to peace, security of lives and property and the rule of law for the growth and development of the state.

Mr Kingsley Fanwo, the State Information Commissioner, made the remarks during a news conference in Lokoja on Saturday.

Mr Isaiah Ijele, Director, SDP New Media, Muriel/Sam campaign council, had in a statement issued in Lokoja, accused the Kogi APC led government of sponsoring political thugs to attack SDP supporters and witnesses around the election tribunal premises in Abuja.

He had called on the security operatives to call the Kogi Government to order so as not to cause crisis in the state.

But Fanwo said that the unwavering stance of the government on peace, security and constitutionalism was the basic minimum in ensuring a peaceful and secured state.

“It is the responsibility of the government to protect all citizens, irrespective of their political or religious persuasions.

“This is why It’s important to enlighten the Social Democratic Party (SDP) to the fact that the case at the tribunal is between political parties of which the state government isn’t one.

Therefore, it’s imperative to know that the state government did not receive any report of politically stirred crisis in and outside the state.

“We believe it’s in the party’s usual way of whipping up sentiments and spreading falsehood to win public sympathy,” he said.

He said Kogi, under the leadership of Alhaji Usman Ododo, the democratically elected governor of the state, would be undaunted in its resolve to serve the people of the state, rather than be entangled in propaganda festival.

“The Kogi Government doesn’t subscribe to violence and actions that breach the peace of the state.”

“We will also not accept statements deliberately made to incite the people against the government and possibly spark panic.

“The SDP must always be prepared for the consequences of their actions and utterances against the Kogi State Government or its officials.”

According to him, Ododo promises to protect all residents, irrespective of their political and religious beliefs and his commitment to fulfilling such promises is iron cast and unimpeachable.

He, however, urged the people of the state to go about their normal businesses as there won’t be any chance for anyone to attack any citizen.

“No stone will be left unturned to ensure peace and security in the state, ” Fanwo assured. (NAN)
