Former President of National Association Of Okun Students (NAOS), Mr Samuel Ajagun, has pledged to address poverty at the grassroots by giving attention to women and youth development

Ajagun, a Social Democratic Party (SDP) aspirant for the Yagba West Chairmanship, Kogi State, in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday said one of his passions was to liberate people from poverty through empowerment.

Ajagun, who had obtained and submitted his nomination form at the SDP secretariat in Lokoja on Tuesday, said  his commitment to serve his people propelled him to join the chairmanship race.

“My priority will be shifted to human capital development, youth and women empowerment.

“If elected I will give attention to the old aged ones and tackle poverty.

“In as much as we can not totally eradicate poverty in our society, we can alleviate it.

“My administration will be committed to tackling the scourge of poverty,” he said.

He pledged to ensure that the people at the grassroots in his local government feel the impact of the government through a change in approach to providing essential needs of the people.

Ajagun said that his ability to join the race and contest in the forthcoming election was as a result of the support given to him by the people of Yagba West Local Government.

He urged the people of Yagba West to come and cast their votes for him and the SDP in the election scheduled for Dec. 12, in Kogi State. (NAN)
