Lagos State gives content producers 7 days ultimatum to pay 5% levy

THE Lagos State Film and Video Censors Board, LSFVCB, has given content producers in the state seven days ultimatum to pay five percent levy on their contents. Bamidele Balogun, executive secretary, LSFVCB, said content producers should pay for all audio and visual content produced, sold, distributed, marketed, exhibited, streamed, downloaded, and shared across all physical and digital platforms in the state.

Balogun, in a letter dated August 31, with the title: ‘Implementation of 5% levy on all audio and visual content on all physical and digital platform,’ said: “We hereby request for immediate payment of the 5% levy on all audio and visual content produced, sold, distributed, marketed, exhibited, streamed, downloaded and shared across all physical and digital platform situate, lying and being within Lagos State.

“A copy of the public notice earlier issued in this regard is herein attached. By this letter, you have been served notice as a necessary procedure and you are obliged to comply within seven days from the date of receipt of this notification.

“Attached to this letter is a direct debit mandate form. You are requested to fill the attached form and return to the undersigned.  For further information and enquiries, please call – 08025922488, 08032509920. Whilst thanking you for your cooperation in this regard, please accept the assurances of our highest consideration and esteem.”
