THE Lagos State Government has trained over 1,000 students on proper use of emergency toll-free lines 767 and 112.
The sensitisation, held at State Junior High School, Oyewole, Agege, was organised by the Lagos State Command and Control Centre LSCCC .
This is contained in a statement signed by the LSCCC Head Public Affairs, Mrs Yemisi Sule, and made available to the News Agency of Nigeria NAN on Wednesday in Lagos.
Sule said the initiative was part of efforts to promote emergency preparedness and responsible response culture among residents, especially students.
Shw rereaffirmed the government commitment to expanding safety education across schools and communities.
Sule said that the General Manager, LSCCC, Mr Femi Giwa, was represented at the event, by Mrs Adeyinka Adeeso, Director, Administration and Human Resources.
She said the programme aimed to equip students with life-saving knowledge and improve public safety awareness.
She urged students to use emergency lines responsibly and avoid hoax calls that could delay urgent assistance.
Sule said the students were taught to stay calm, provide accurate location details, and report emergencies promptly.
“Some students expressed appreciation, pledging to share the knowledge with families and peers,” she said.
She added that the students received educational materials to reinforce safety awareness beyond the classroom.
Sule quoted the school Principal, Mrs Olabimpe Balogun, as commending the initiative.
Balogun said the initiative would strengthen safety awareness within the school.
She said the school had safety equipment, including fire extinguishers and sand buckets, for emergencies. NAN
