NASARAWA State House of Assembly Committee on Public Complaints, Petitions and Security, has invited Village Head of Laminga, Nasarawa State , Mr Aliyu Maikeffi and others to appear before it on Oct. 25 or risk arrest.

The committee said the invitation was over alleged sale of land belonging to six communities of Haderi District, Kokona Local Government Area.

Mr Danladi Jatau, the Chairman of the committee, gave the summon on Wednesday when six communities of Haderi appeared before it on their petition over alleged attack/sale of their lands.

Jatau said the committee decided to extend another invitation to Sarkin Laminga, Kokona LGA and others over their non appearance before the committee today on the issue.

According to him, the constitution empowers the Committee to invite anybody on matters concerning peace, progress and development of the state.

” Ours is to see that peace reigns in the state as His Excellency, Gov. Abdullahi Sule is working hard to see that permanent peace continues to reign across communities.

” No meaningful progress and development could be achieved without peace,” he said.

Jatau urged Sarki Laminga and others involved in the case to appear before the committee next week in the interest of peace.

” We don’t know the reason or reasons why Sarkin Laminga and those accused on the land issue are not here today.

” We will give them another opportunity to appear before us next week Tuesday by 10 a.m. to hear their own side of the story but if they fail to appear, we will order for their arrest

“We want peace to reign in the state,” he said.”

The chairman urged the complainants to go home and return next week.

He assured both parties that justice would be done on the issue.

Earlier, Mr Micah Ayuba-Rikichi, Head of six communities of Haderi District, Kokona LGA, had petitioned that  their lands were sold.

” The communities affected are Sauran Kiriya, Angwan Mangoro, Angwan Maikomo, Angwan Hori, Angwan Ayaba and Gidan Ado.

” We are pleading for your quick intervention over the matter.” (NAN)
