FASHION freaks are billed to gather in Addis Ababa this September, at the fourth edition of the Africa Fashion Reception-AFR and the global edition slated for Paris in November.

This year’s event, organized by Legendary Gold, will unravel the African Fashion Reception Guest Stars 2017- an initiative of TalkStuff, Nigeria’s fast-rising print and digital media communication outfit.

The Founder/CEO of TalkStuff, Rachel Ogbonna said the initiative is designed to give Africa’s budding fashion talents the opportunity to compete and showcase their works, thereby creating a platform where global fashion buffs interact and vote for their favorite candidates.

“Entry for the ‘AFR Guest Stars’ 2017 began last week. Our mandate is to discover the freshest, newest and unrepresented fashion models and emerging fashion designers in Africa and help launch their career to the global fashion industry,” said Ms. Ogbonna.

She disclosed that the first 100 entries will get a chance to showcase their portfolios and look book of their designs on the TalkStuff online media room available to the international audience for one year.

She further explained that participation is open to 18 years and above. Applicants who are under 18 years will need a written consent from their parent or legal guardian.

After all due process of registration, applicants will be shortlisted by the executive board of Africa Fashion Reception, fashion industry executives, and thereafter the public will vote to determine the ‘GUEST STARS’ through an online voting system on www.talkstuff.com.

Legendary Gold is the organizers of Africa Fashion Reception which has been running for three years promoting African fashion at the global level.

Africa Fashion Reception was launched in Paris in 2013. The second edition was hosted in Nigeria in 2014 when no fewer than 200 designers from over 40 African countries participated at the event. It was dubbed a celebration of cultural diversity with the theme “Africa is the New Inspiration of Global Fashion”. Then only one top designer was selected to represent each country. The aim of AFR is to bring together Africa’s top fashion designers to promote African fashion and talents.

Since its inception in 1996, the organization has become the reference point in fashion and modeling in Nigeria. It has impacted the industry by taking African fashion to the international level. It is also the promoter of The Nigeria Fashion Week, The Nigeria Fashion Awards, The Nigeria Modeling Awards and Africa Fashion Reception, all organized annually.
