Man docked for allegedly stealing motorcycle

A 25-year-old man, Bashir Zakari, on Wednesday, was docked in a Magistrates’ Court, Zuba, Abuja, for allegedly stealing a motorcycle.

The prosecuting counsel, Chinedu Ogada told the court that the complainant, Shaibu Abubakar reported the matter at Zuba Police Station on June 26.

Ogada said that the defendant and four others at large attacked the complainant, pushed him down and collected his motorcycle valued N950,000.

The offence, he said, contravened the provisions of section 287 of the Penal Code.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty.

The Magistrate Abdullaziz Ismail, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties who must reside within the court’s jurisdiction.

Ismail said that the surety must be a civil servant from Grade level 5 in the federal, state or local government and deposit a copy of their last promotion letters with the registry of the court.

He adjourned the matter until July 16.(NAN)
