C Don Adinuba, the Anambra State commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, MOIPE, has urged Nigerian politicians to emulate the Peace and Cando that characterised the union’s last election.

“I’m proud of NUJ. I will want Nigerian politicians to emulate your election in Abeokuta, Ogun State,’’ he stressed this while receiving Petrus Obi, the Zone C president, in his office at the Jerome Udoji Secretariat, Awka.

According to the commissioner, the NUJ must have borrowed that aspect from the last Anambra State election because the NUJ president visited several times prior to the Ogun polls.

He, however, promised that the Government of Anambra under Governor Willie Obiano would give NUJ his full support.

Adinuba said that training which the deputy president pleaded for would be a continuous exercise.

He says: “Governor Obiano lives by example, while Anambra State lives up to its reputation of being the Light of the Nation’’.

Earlier, Obi, who spoke said that they came to familiarise with the commissioner, re-assuring the commissioner, that they had come to strengthen the journalism profession and its practice.

“We will train, harmonise and maintain integrity,’’ Obi said.

He explained that they had written to the governor for a courtesy visit, and urged the commissioner to assist to facilitate the visit.

Tony Nweke, acting director, Information had earlier, welcomed the delegation to the ministry and extolling the virtue of Adinuba as a leading light since his arrival in the ministry.

“He has since simplified protocols in the ministry, operates a unique open door policy in the running of affairs of the information ministry.’’

Nweke who was immediate past chairman, Information Chapel of the NUJ, used the occasion to announce his intention to run as state chairman, Anambra Council of the NUJ.

Kene Ofomah, the secretary to the union thanked the commissioner for the warm reception.

Emma Udeagha, the Anambra NUJ chairman, thanked them for the visit.
