THE ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, President Muhammadu Buhari, its presidential candidate in the 2015 general and John Oyegun, national chairman of the party, were on Wednesday, December 9, named Verbatim magazine’s Man of the Year 2015.

Verbatim, the general interest news magazine published in Abuja by former editors of Newswatch, in a press statement signed by Tobs Agbaegbu, its editor-in-chief and chief executive officer, on Thursday, December 10, said: ”Verbatim editors are of the view that the cap best fits APC and two of its leaders, Buhari and Oyegun because of their peculiar roles in achieving record breaking success during the 2015 general election and for leading Nigerians in charting a new course for democracy.”

Agbaegbu stated in the release that the details of why Verbatim editors chose the APC and its leaders would be read at a high level investiture ceremony which the media would hold in March next year in Abuja to formally crown the award winners.

He disclosed that the party had expressed gratitude to the magazine and accepted the honour after Verbatim’s editors submitted a notification letter to Oyegun at the APC headquarters in Abuja on Wednesday, December 9.

Agbaegbu quoted Oyegun as stating that the honour from Verbatim magazine was a manifestation that the teamwork that led to the unprecedented victory of the APC during the 2015 general election was truly appreciated by many Nigerians and also, the critical media.

”We are happy and, indeed, overwhelmed by what the management of Verbatim has done  and promise to sustain the virtues and qualities which helped the  APC win the 2015 general election in Nigeria and to also emerge Verbatim Man-of-the- Year, 2015. We look forward to honouring the date fixed for the ceremony and also to mobilize our members nationwide to make the event historic and memorable,” Oyegun was quoted as saying at the event.
