Senator Dino Melaye, representative of Kogi West Senatorial District, has instituted a court case against the Independent National Electoral Commission over his planned recall from the Senate.

INEC had earlier in the week confirmed receiving a petition against Melaye from his constituents and promised to embark on the process to verify the signatures of those who signed it.

But on Friday, Melaye said he has started a court proceeding against INEC.

He revealed this on his Twitter handle and also scanned the court paper there.

He tweeted: “I have filed my case against INEC today at the Federal High Court Abuja today.” – Eagle Online

  1. It will be difficult for his people to succeed in recalling him. This is because Melaye will have the Senate President and others in the Senate caucus to dish out money to the Judges. Afterall it is rumored that some US$ changed hands in the Senate Presudent’s acquital on all counts. Melaye is an avoid supporter of the Senate President, who said at one time that he was ready to die for him. This is payback period. Another angle to it is that, knowing our judiciary, the case can take forever to be heard while Melaye goes round to bribe his people to pipe low. And gradually the case will fizzle into oblivion. Can INEC summon the courage and the political will to use this case as an example by pursuing this case to its logical conclusion
