Barnabas Gemade, engineer, administrator and politician, 68, September 4. Born in Mkar, Gboko, Benue State, he was educated at Bristow Secondary School, Gboko, 1964-1968; Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, 1971-1974; City-University, London, 1977-1978. He co-founded, Sam Barns and Partners, 1980-1985; became deputy managing director, Benue Cement Company Limited, Gboko, 1983-1987; managing director, Benue Cement Company PLC, 1987-1992; Secretary for works and housing, Interim National Government, 1993; national chairman, defunct Committee for National Consensus, CNC, 1997-1998; national chairman, People’s Democratic Party, PDP, 1999-2001; elected senator representing Benue State in 2011 and 2015.
