Austin Okocha, erstwhile international football player and former captain of the Super Eagles of Nigeria, 43, August 14. Born in Ogwashi-Uku, Delta State, he started his football career with Rangers International FC, Enugu, from where he joined Fenerbache FC of Turkey. In 1998, he joined Paris Saint Germaine, PSG, in Paris, France. Okocha also played for Bolton Wanderers FC, a premiership club side in England, which he joined in 2002. Okocha was also part of the Super Eagles squad that won the Africa Nations Cup in Tunisia in 1994 and was a recipient of a gold medal for soccer in 1996 Olympics; BBC best footballer of the year in 1998, and again in 2003. The former midfielder is also a silver medallist, in Nigeria/Ghana 2000 Nations Cup. He has featured in three World Cup competitions.
