Tunde Jonathan Ogbeha, retired soldier, administrator and politician, 68, September 1. Born in Lokoja, Kogi State, he was educated at Maiduguri Primary School, Maiduguri; Nigerian Military School, Zaria, 1962-1967; Nigerian Defence Academy, NDA, Kaduna, 1967-1970; he also attended several military courses in Nigeria and abroad including the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, NIPSS, Kuru, 1987. He was enlisted into the army and was commissioned a second lieutenant in 1970, and thereafter held various command and staff appointments. Some of the appointments included defence adviser, Nigerian High Commission in Zimbabwe; military governor of Akwa Ibom State, 1987-1989; and old Bendel State, 1989-1990. He was elected senator representing Kogi West senatorial district, under the platform of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, 1999-2007.
