UCHE Chukwumerije, journalist, politician, administrator and publisher, 75, January 11. Born in Isuochi, Abia State, he was educated at the Methodist Central School, Isuochi, 1943-1952; Our Lady’s High School, 1953-1957 and University College, Ibadan, 1958-1961. He was the director of propaganda in the defunct Republic of Biafra and secretary for information in the Interim National Government, ING, headed by Ernest Shonekan. He was publisher of African Scope magazine and presently a senator representing Abia North in the National Assembly.

Jaiye Kolarin Randle, chartered accountant and author, 70, January 13. Born in Lagos, he studied in Britain. He was chairman, Eko Hotels limited. Randle is also a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, ICAN, and a member of the Musical Society of Nigeria, MUSON.

Etim Nyong Udoh, educationist and administrator, 75, January 14. Born in Akwa Ibom State, he was educated at Lutheran High School, Obot Idim, Akwa Ibom State; Methodist College, Uzuakoli, Abia State; Hull University, Yorkshire, England and University of Leyden, Holland. Udoh was the secretary to the government of Akwa Ibom State, 1993-1994 and resident electoral commissioner, Nassarawa State Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, 1998. He was conferred with Knights of St Christopher, KSC, of the Anglican Communion of Nigeria and Order of Federal Republic by President Olusegun Obasanjo in 2003.

Isiaka Adetunji Adeleke, businessman, industrialist, politician and administrator, 59, January 15. Born in Ede, Osun State, he was educated at Alafia Institute, Mokola, Ibadan; Ogbomosho Grammar School, Western Kentucky University, Kentucky, USA and Jacksonville University, Jacksonville, Alabama, USA. Adeleke was governor, Osun State, 1992-1993; director, Pacific Farm Limited, Ede, and Lagos; Pacific Merchant Bank, Lagos; Pacific Drilling Company, Lagos, and Theorley International. He is also the chairman, Tadel Investment Limited, Lagos. Adeleke is a member of Ede Progressive Union and People’s Democratic Party, PDP. He represented Osun State in the Senate in 2007.

Bunu Sheriff Musa, engineer, administrator and former minister of power and steel, 67, January 15. Born in Maiduguri, Borno State, he studied in Nigeria and Britain. Musa was a hydrological assistant in the federal ministry of transport, Inland Water Way Division, Lokoja. He later became the general manager, Chad Basin Development Authority, CBDA, Maiduguri. He is a member of the Council of Registered Engineers of Nigeria, COREN.
