Lawrence Olakunle Osayemi, administrator and chartered accountant, 71, June 7. Born in Abeokuta, Ogun State, he was educated at St. Peter’s College, Abeokuta, 1962; University of London, external degrees, 1978. Osayemi started his career as factory accountant, Philips Nigeria Limited, 1969-1973; deputy finance controller, Vegetable Oils Nigeria Limited, 1973-1976; chief accountant/finance controller, Thomas Wyatts Nigeria PLC, 1976-1986; managing director, Thomas Wyatts Nigeria, PLC 1986. Osayemi, who is the current pro-chancellor and chairman of the governing council, Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, is a fellow, Chartered Institute of Cost and Management Accountants; fellow, Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, among others.
