FORMER minister, politician, essayist, poet and lawyer, 57, October 16. Born in Lagos, but his family lineage originates from Ile-Ife, Osun, he attended Brighton College, Brighton UK; Holmewood House School in Tunbridge Wells, Kent, South-East England; Harrow School in Harrow on the Hill, United Kingdom; Kelly College in Tavistock, UK; University of London, School of Oriental and African Studies; Cambridge University (Pembroke College), and Nigerian Law School.  He was elected national youths leader of the Nigerian National Congress, NNC, 1989; Chief Press Secretary to Tom Ikimi, the first national chairman of the National Republican Convention, NRC, 1990; special assistant to Umaru Shinkafi, former head of the Nigerian Security Organisation, NSO, 1991; member, National Democratic Coalition, NADECO; special assistant on public affairs to the President Olusegun Obasanjo, 2003; minister of culture and tourism, 2006, and minister of aviation, 2006. Fani-Kayode is a member of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP. –
