Born in Okpanku, Amumara, Ezihinitte, Mbaise local government area of Imo State, Kelechi was educated at Central School, Amumara, 1978-1983; Archdeacon Dennis Junior Seminary, Mbieri, Owerri, Imo State, 1984-1990 and the University of Ibadan, 1991-1998.
