Pete Edochie, actor, broadcaster and administrator, 69, March 7. Born in Enugu, Enugu State, he had his primary and secondary school education in northern Nigeria. He was a deputy managing director, Eastern Nigerian Broadcasting Corporation, 1967-1988. Prior to that, he played the lead role of Okonkwo in an NTA adaptation of Chinua Achebe’s Things Fall Apart and won an International Award. After retiring from broadcasting he went fully into acting and is considered one of Africa’s most talented actors by both Movie Awards and Movie Magic’s Africa Magic Cable network. Edochie has featured in over 200 movies, some of which are Throne of the Gods, My Beloved Son, Secret Pain, Passage of Kings, Return of the Princess, and Egg of Life.
