PRESIDENT Muhammadu Buhari is optimistic that millions of Nigerians from all parts of the country will join the All Progressives Congress, APC, in few months’ time.

Buhari stated this in his letter dated January 25, 2018 and sent to Basheer Mohammed Lado, a senator who recently defected to the APC in Kano State.

The president wrote the letter in response to an earlier one by the senator acquainting him with his decision to join the ruling party.

Bashir Ahmad, the president’s personal assistant on New Media, on Sunday., January 28, posted a copy of the letter entitled “Re: Declaration for APC” on his Twitter handle, @BashirAhmaad.

The letter, signed by the president, read: “I was most delighted to receive your letter informing me of your impending decision to formally declare for our great party, APC.

“Furthermore, I am very encouraged to learn that you are bringing thousands of new supporters into the fold.

“We are expecting millions to join us in the next few months from all parts of the country.

“I would have very much welcomed another opportunity to be in Kano but due to a conflict of engagements, I am due on that day in Addis Ababa for an important African Union meeting which was scheduled months ago.

“I hope I shall have the pleasure of welcoming you to the Presidential Villa in the near future. I wish the event turns out to be a resounding success.”

Senator Lado and 116,000 of his supporters who dumped the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, at the weekend were officially received by Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kano State at a special reception held at the Sani Abacha Indoor Stadium on Saturday, January 27.
