The statement noted that Tallen made the pledge at a farewell party organised for the outgoing Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Mrs. Ifeoma Anagbogu on Wednesday.

The minister said that education was the only key that could open doors for women to participate in governance.

Tallen called on parents to ensure that their female children are well educated and both boys and girls are encouraged to take their studies seriously.

She thanked Anagbogu for contributing to the achievements recorded in the ministry, adding that everybody at the ministry including the management staff would miss her.

The minister said that the outgoing permanent secretary ensured that the status of women and children in the country was given due recognition.

In her response, Anagbogu thanked the minister for the good working relationship she had with her. She said that it was human to err, but Godly to forgive and asked the staff of the ministry to forgive her if she had unknowingly offended anyone while in the ministry.

Anagbogu said that in governance, one was bound to step on toes to get things working, while she called on the staff to cooperate with the incoming permanent secretary.

The new permanent secretary, Dr Ifeoma-Anyawu Utak who promised to run an open-door policy, solicited for the cooperation of officers and staff of the ministry.
