Mr Nigeria International contest will boost cultural heritage – Organiser

ORGANISER of Mr and Miss Nigeria International, Dr Brendan Nsikak, says the 2023 Mr Nigeria International contest slated to hold in April in Lagos  would promote the country’s culture and intelligence.

Nsikak, CEO, Brendance and Crusaders Limited (BCL), the official organisers of the first mixed pageants since 2012, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday Sin Lagos.

According to him, the organisation decided to separate the two contests which had existed for 11 years, to give them more concentration and attention.

He said the contest decided to go cultural in other to boost and promote the nation’s culture, among youths which was gradually going into extinction.

“We need to encourage our youths to love and promote our culture before they finally allow the foreign ones to overtake their interest.

“Knowing that the world is fast going into great revolution, that encouraged us to make culture our priority and interest in the current edition,” he said.

He said that the male version of Mr Nigeria International (MRNI) 2023, is the 11th edition of the  show with the Theme: “The Evolution”.

Nsikak said that the show would hold after the Ramadan fast at the end of April in Lagos.

“After a successful hosting of the maiden edition in Ekiti, and having produced Maduka Favour, Miss Abuja, as the winner, we are set for the male edition.

“Out of over 200 young men that enrolled, we have successfully selected 30 qualified contestants that have been put out to the public for voting.

“The Male version, promises to be fun and interesting as the winner will go home with a whooping sum of N1.5 million.

”The top three winners will represent Nigeria Internationally with interesting consolation prices,” he said.

The beauty promoter also said the Judges would be looking out for smart, intelligent, good looking men that could represent the brand all over the world.

He appealed to residents of Lagos , where the contest for the men would take place to ensure they surpassed that of the female which received tremendous assistance from the host state, Ekiti.

“I sincerely commend and appreciate the good people of Ekiti for the successful hosting of Miss Nigeria International in October 2022.

“I also want to appreciate the current and past governors, commissioners and ministry of Arts Culture and Tourism of Ekiti for their endless support.

”The Lagos state contest must not fall short of Ekiti, being the centre of excellence as the Mr Nigeria contest promises to showcase more of our cultural heritage.”

“The voting, which started on Feb. 15, will end in March 15 to bring forth the top 15 finalists for the contest,” he said.

Nsikak said that pageantry, being a career, has a tradition in selecting the most credible and valuable contestants.

He said that after the first stage of registration and selection, the number would be reduced in order to discover those who would be able to pull the crowd and promote the brand.

The winner would be crowned by the outgoing Mr Nigeria International 2022, Ajewole odunayo, a graduate of Insurance from the University of Lagos (UNILAG) and fashion entrepreneur.(NAN)
