THE Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO) has advised customers within its franchise area to utilise alternative payment channels when paying their electricity bills and purchasing meter tokens.

This is due to Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) deadline of accepting old denomination if 1,000, 500 and 200 Naira notes.

This is contained in a statement issued to newsmen by the Head, Corporate Communications, Sani Bala-Sani on Thursday in Kano.

He stated that customers could easily utilise KEDCO various electronic options available, instead of going through the stress of joining long queues to withdraw money for settlement of their electricity bills or purchase of prepaid meter (PPM) tokens.

According to the statement, “this will reduce unnecessary stress for both parties and ensure compliance with Central Bank of Nigeria’s (CBN) policy of cashless transactions.

“Various alternative payment options include web-based, internet banking and USSD code through *389*16*Account meternumber#”, he said.

Sani-Bala assured customers of user-friendliness and automatic payment receipt will be instantly generated, reflecting amount paid in customer billing account.

The statement stated that KEDCO was running a debt discount promo where customers could settle their outstanding debt, using old series of N200, N500, and N1,000 to enjoy up to 25 per cent discount until Jan. 30

He further explained that as part of management cardinal objectives, KEDCO was now in better position to offer innovative solutions for improved service delivery and enhanced customer experience.

Sani-Bala advised customers to take advantage of the five days promo as well as alternative channels to pay their electricity bills promptly.

He said in case of any difficulty to access any of the channels, customers could contact the customer service on 070055551111 or through live chat at www.kedco.ng or on KEDCO social media platforms.(NAN)
