NBTE approves 35 programmes for Ibadan Poly – Mgt.

THE Management of The Polytechnic, Ibadan has said that the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) has approved all the 35 programmes listed for accreditation for the institution.

It disclosed this in a statement signed by the Registrar, Mrs Modupe Fawale, and made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ibadan on Thursday.

Fawale stated that the feat could be attributed to the huge support given to the institution by Gov. Mr Seyi Makinde.

She also ascribed it to the backing of the polytechnic’s Governing Council and cooperation of the management team, lecturers and members of staff in the various Departments, Units and Directorates.

The statement further noted that the achievement was a big plus to the institution.

According to it, many courses presented attracted huge sums of money for the procurement of equipment and upgrading of facilities to meet the requirements and quality assurance of the NBTE.

It explained that the board visited the institution between April 19 and 23 with experts and bodies from across the country to ensure quality assurance of the programmes.

The statement disclosed that the news of the success of the accreditation was conveyed in a letter to the Rector, Prof. Kazeem Adebiyi, dated May, 27.

It added that the programmes would be due for another accreditation in the next five years.

Fawale assured the students, intending students, the public and NBTE that the polytechnic “will adhere to all details and advice offered during the accreditation to ensure that the institution retains its position as foremost in Nigeria”.

She listed the accredited programmes as ND Building Technology, HND Building Technology, P-HND Urban and Regional Planning, HND Surveying and Geo-informatics.

Others are ND Estate Management and Evaluation, HND Estate Management and Evaluation, ND Quantity Surveying, ND Library and Information Science, ND Music Technology and HND Music Technology, HND Sculpture, HND Graphics, HND Ceramics, HND Textile.

The rest are ND Computer Engineering Technology, HND Civil Engineering Technology, ND Science Laboratory Technology, HND Science Laboratory Technology, (Biology/Microbiology Option) and HND Science Laboratory Technology (Microbiology Option) and HND Science Laboratory Technology (Physics/Electronics), amonst others.
