NCC holds 82nd Edition of Telecom Consumer Parliament

THE Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC, this morning at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja, held its 82nd edition of its flagship consumer-focused forum – The Telecom Consumer Parliament, TCP.

Umar Danbatta, executive vice chairman, NCC, in a keynote speech which speaks eloquently to the theme of the edition: ‘Value Added Services and their Benefits,’ said the importance of Value Added Services, VAS, is huge in optimizing the benefits of telecom services to the consumers.

He said it was VAS that enable social media exploration as well as e-commerce activities that have become so useful might be useful to the telecom consumer while simultaneously offering a cutting edge solutions to the entrepreneur and businesses even as we await the dawn of Internet of Things, IoTs.

Also speaking at the forum, Abdullahi Maikano, director, consumer affairs, NCC, stated that TCP had become and remains a credible and useful platform for consumers, Telecom Operators and the Regulator to reflect on and proffer solutions to pertinent industry issues. He noted that the critical role Value Added Services play in enhancing consumer experience on the networks cannot be over emphasized.

Maikano amplified the voice of Danbatta, calling on consumers and all stakeholders to utilise VAS to play key roles in the emerging digital economy and to improve the quality of their experiences.
