THE Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrims Commission (NCPC), Rev. Yakubu Pam, has visited former Plateau Governor, Sen. Joshua Dariye, urging him to continue to serve the people with dignity.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Dariye was recently pardoned by the Federal Government after he was imprisoned for diversion of public funds while in office.

A statement issued on Sunday in Abuja by Mary Gana, Principal Executive Officer, NCPC, said Pam visited the former governor at his residence in Jos.

He said that the visit was to felicitate with him over his release from prison, and advised him not to give up, but continue to serve the people.

“We have come to celebrate your triumph over falsehood and we acknowledge that it is God who has done this great work for the people of Plateau,” he added.

According to Pam, Dariye worked so hard to build Plateau and has contributed immensely to the growth and development of the state.

The NCPC helmsman commended the former governor for standing strong in the mist of adversities and not giving up.

“Despite all the challenges you faced, God brought you out of them all, indeed, you stood, you fought and you conquered,” he added.

He prayed for God to strengthen, uphold and help him to be focused, “so that the purpose for what God has destined you will be accomplished”.

Pam thanked President Muhammadu Buhari and all those who contributed to the release of the former Plateau governor.

In his response, Dariye thanked the NCPC boss for the visit and standing by him throughout the period of his challenges.

He expressed gratitude to God, saying “through this all, God was there with me and indeed He has glorified himself.

“The Lord was my strength, the Church prayed and God himself came through for me”.

Dariye described the NCPC boss as a great man with so much humility, who also went through many persecutions.

Meanwhile, the NCPC executive secretary has received an Award of Excellence from Mupun Youth Association in Plateau.

The award was presented to him during the association’s second annual Public Lecture and Magazine Launch in Jos.

He commended the association for bringing their people together to celebrate their tribe and culture.

“I am proud of what is happening here today because the people of Mupun are promoting their culture.

“Plateau has one of the richest cultures in Nigeria and I urge the Mupun to ensure that their cultural heritage is preserved.

“Let us not only preserve and promote our culture but we should also work hard to meet our needs and earn a living,” Pam said. (NAN)
