FOLLOWING the appointment of Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala on Monday, February 15, 2021, as the 7th Director-General of the World Trade Organization, WTO, by the General Council of this international trade regulatory body, Ndigbo Lagos joins all people of goodwill across the world to congratulate Okonjo-Iweala on her well-deserved appointment.
Her emergence, after the nine-month-long rigorous selection process that had eight highly experienced international technocrats as contenders, is a testimony to her ability, capacity and capability.
“We therefore have no doubt in our minds that she will bring her wealth of knowledge and experience in government and the World Bank to bear on her new assignment.
“We pray that the Almighty grants her Wisdom and Good Health in the discharge of her duties to the International Community.
