THE Chairman, Bwari Area Council of the FCT, Mr John Gabaya, on Monday, distributed work tools to 150 beneficiaries drawn from the 10 wards in the council.
Gabaya in his address said that the items distributed to the beneficiaries included 10 sewing machines, 20 motorcycles, 50 grinding machines and 70 wheelchairs for the disabled.
The chairman said that his administration was determined to make an impact in the lives of the residents so that, people would enjoy the benefits of democracy.
“Our people need this empowerment, we have identified them and hope that steps like this would help eradicate poverty in our society.
“This may not go round for everybody now.
“If you are not lucky to benefit now, I assure you that we are working towards ensuring that everyone is enriched in one way or the other.
“Be patient with us, we will do more by the grace of God; all we need for now is your prayers and support towards all our endeavours,” he said.
While congratulating the beneficiaries, the chairman also urged them to use those items judiciously.
One of the beneficiaries, Mr Abubakar Yaro, who received a wheelchair, appreciated the goodwill while also praying for the success of the council’s administration.
He said that the gesture would not only alleviate his physical challenge but would also enable him to move faster to his place of trade, where he sold recharge cards for mobile phone users.
