Soludo and Ibezim, his deputy

…congratulates the governor elect

…commends Buhari, security agencies over Anambra elections

THE Ndigbo Lagos, a non-partisan umbrella body of Igbo Organizations in Lagos, has urged Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, newly elected governor of Anambra State to along with other governors in the South East to develop a blueprint on how security can be restored in the South-East. The group also advised them to fashion how South-East can be repositioned for development and the enhancement of the people's standard of living.

The group stated this in a statement signed by Maj. Gen. Obi Abel Umahi (Rtd), president of Ndigbo Lagos and Chuma Igwe, secretary general, which was made available to Realnews on Wednesday night, November 10.

The statement which congratulated Prof. Soludo on his election as the governor of Anambra State, also commended President Muhammadu Buhari and security agencies for providing adequate security for the just concluded governorship election.

The statement reads: “We followed with keen interest the just concluded Governorship election in Anambra State.

“We appreciate Mr President, Commander-in-Chief Federal Republic of Nigeria, HE MUHAMMADU BUHARI, GCFR and the security agencies for providing adequate Security that laid the solid foundation for free, fair and credible election in Anambra State on the 6th and 9th of November 2021. We congratulate INEC for creditably discharging their constitutional responsibilities, especially in the use of electronic voting and transmission (BVAS) technology, by giving the people the opportunity to make their choice of who governs them.

“Ndigbo Lagos also congratulates the good people of Anambra State who turned out, without fear of intimidation to vote for their preferred candidates.

“Ndigbo Lagos also congratulates all the Governorship aspirants for conducting a robust, issue-based campaign. It is also heart-warming to observe that they strictly adhered to the nonviolent election agreement they signed with the National peace committee led by Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar. Now that the result is out and the winner has been declared by INEC, Ndigbo Lagos would like to advise as follows: “In all elections and in all contests, there will always be winners and losers. We urge those who lost to accept the outcome with decorum and in the spirit of sportsmanship.

“Those who lost should accept the olive branch that the winner has extended to the losers and the entire Anambra people for the sake of unity.

“Without prejudice to the rights of the losers to contest the election results, it is highly advised that in the interest of peace and stability, and the progress of Anambra State and indeed the entire South-East, any of the candidates who lost, and is nursing the idea of going to court, should shelve the idea. This will save Anambra State from using the scarce resources meant for development to pursue legal actions and procedures, which sometimes can prove to be expensive in Nigeria.

“Ndigbo Lagos heartily congratulates Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, the Governor Elect of Anambra State. He is reminded to, in conjunction with his brother Governors of the South-East, to begin to come up with a blueprint on how Security can be restored in the South-East and how South-East can be repositioned for development and the enhancement of the people's standard of living.

“We at Ndigbo Lagos join millions of Ndigbo and indeed Nigerians to once more congratulate Prof Soludo, Ndị Anambra

and Ndigbo. The true winner is democracy, peace and the contingent environment for development.”
