Sandamu LGA in Katsina receives 10,502 bags of fertiliser for 2018 wet season

THE Sandamu Local Government Area (LGA) in Katsina State has received 10,502 bags of fertiliser from the state government for the 2018 wet season farming.
Alhaji Aliyu Karkarku, the chairman of the LGA fertiliser distribution committee disclosed this while flagging off sales of the commodity to farmers in Sandamu on Tuesday.
Karkarku, also the Permanent Secretary, in the state Ministry of Inter Governmental Affairs, said the commodity would be distributed across the 118 polling units of the LGA.
He gave assurance that the committee would ensure equity and fairness in the sales and distribution of the commodity.
He said each bag would be sold at the official price of N5, 000 to farmers.
‘‘We will sanction any act of diversion,’’ he said.
In his remarks, the Acting Chairman of the LGA Alhaji Sada Rawayau, commended the state government for the supply of the commodity.
“We will ensure maximum utilisation of the commodity,’’ Rawayau said.
He described the opportunity as a welcome development as it would afford farmers the opportunity cultivation their crops early.
NAN reports that the LGA had registered 2,693 farmers for rice production in the 2018 wet season under the Federal Government’s Anchor Borrowers’ Programme. (NAN)
