Nassarawa Assembly hails execution of Karu mega bus terminal

The Nasarawa State House of Assembly Committee on Works has commended Gov. Abdullahi Sule for constructing N1.9 billion Karu Mega Bus Terminal in Karu Local Government Area.
The Chairman, House Committee on Works, Mr Abdulaziz Danladi, made hailed the project when he led other members on an oversight visit to the site of the ongoing project in Karu on Friday.
Danlami, representing Keffi East constituency, said that the significance of the project cannot be overemphasised considering its benefit to the economic development of the state and lives of the people.
He said that the visit was not to witchhunt anybody but to assess the level of ongoing work with the view of addressing any challenges if discovered.
According to him, the terminal, when completed, will ease traffic congestion on the Mararaba-Abuja corridor.
“It is in view of this that we are commending Gov. Abdullahi Sule for the construction of the Karu mega bus terminal considering its importance to the society,” he said.
Danladi noted that the project would go a long way in reducing road traffic congestion along Karu-Mararaba axis as well as boost the revenue of the state.
The committee also visited the ongoing construction and reconstruction of buildings at the Nasarawa Governor’s Lodge, Asokoro, Abuja.
Danladi appreciated the level and quality of work done so far, saying that the work will give the state a good image before their visitors.
He urged the ministry to be up and doing in ensuring that contractors delivered quality works.
The chairman pledged effective synergy with the state government towards the execution of development projects having direct bearing on the lives of the people of the state and the country at large.
Earlier, the state Commissioner for Works, Housing and Transport, Chief Philip Dada, commended the committee efforts in carrying out their constitutional duties.
He said that the assembly’s action showed that there was synergy between the Executive and the Legislature and called for its sustenance.
The commissioner restated the ministry’s commitment to continue to initiate good policies and programmes and ensure the execution of people oriennted projects. (NAN)
